Taking place March 6-9, 2023, in Austin, Texas, SXSW EDU is a four-day event that brings together educators, policy leaders, edtech companies, students and business leaders to foster innovation and learning within the education industry. Since 2011, SXSW EDU has been offering compelling sessions, in-depth workshops and engaging learning experiences with the idea that education has the power to inspire, elevate and change the future.

The SXSW EDU 2023 Conference and Festival line up is out. And if you’re planning to attend, it’s time to start adding your favorite sessions to your schedule.

At Cengage Group, we’re excited to have a place alongside inspirational and thought-provoking sessions, films and performances. On Tuesday, March 7 at 4 p.m. CT, our CEO, Michael Hansen, will be part of a panel called Online Backlash: Bad Policy Holds Students Back. Here’s more information about the session:

Online Backlash: Bad Policy Holds Students Back

Today, 65% of jobs require some education beyond high school. In the U.S. 62% of working age adults do not have a degree. Together, these numbers illustrate why we have a skills gap; we need to help more Americans upskill to find sustainable employment. This demands coordination among education providers, employers and policy makers. Unfortunately, current policy proposals undermine potential solutions like online learning which could help quickly expand education access to millions of learners.

Join Michael Hansen, CEO, Cengage Group, Scott Pulsipher, President, Western Governors University and David Barnes, Vice President Global Workforce Policy, IBM in a panel moderated by Jane Oates, President, WorkingNation.
