Gale EMPOWERS Libraries with National Library Week Promotion and Advocacy Efforts

Farmington Hills, Mich., April 7, 2017 — As National Library Week kicks off this weekend, Gale, a leading provider of library resources and a Cengage company, is thanking librarians and asking them to share what empowers them. The campaign couldn’t come at a more important time as Gale partners with the American Library Association (ALA) to highlight the educational and economic value of libraries, in order to gain legislator support of library funding. The ALA has also declared Thursday, April 13 as “Take Action for Libraries Day” to highlight the library community’s efforts to safeguard funding for libraries and museums.

WHO: Librarians in the U.S.

WHEN: During National Library Week – April 10-14

WHAT: Gale’s National Library Week 2017: EMPOWER Sweepstakes

April 10-14, librarians can visit bit.ly/EmpowerNLW to share what inspires them. Each day 70 winners will be selected at random to receive a free, customizable empower T-shirt courtesy of Gale. They’ll then be encouraged to snap a picture of themselves wearing their shirt and post the photo to facebook.com/GaleCengage and twitter.com/GaleCengage with the hashtag #EMPOWERNLW for a chance to be showcased on our social media pages.

WHERE: Visit bit.ly/EmpowerNLW

WHY: Because libraries empower us at Gale every day, as well as countless students, instructors, researchers, and patrons. As library funding is challenged, it is more important than ever to showcase the contributions of libraries.

Gale has partnered directly with the ALA Washington Office on legislative efforts including National Library Legislative Day. For more information on Gale’s advocacy efforts on behalf of libraries, please visit www.gale.com/saveimls.
