Union County (NJ) College Students to Save Money on Course Materials using Cengage Unlimited Subscription Service

BOSTON and CRANFORD, N.J.—April 11, 2019 – Beginning in Fall 2019, Union County College students will have day-one access to their textbooks and course materials using a new subscription service from Cengage. Included as part of course fees, students can expect to save hundreds of dollars annually on their course materials. Cengage, the largest U.S.-based education and technology company serving the higher education market, provides course materials to almost half of the 20 million higher education students across the country.

“Union County College is pleased to partner with Cengage to provide our students with this revolutionary cost savings textbook service,” stated Union’s President Dr. Margaret M. McMenamin. “This initiative is one more way in which we accomplish our mission of offering an affordable, accessible, and high quality education at Union.”

Cengage Unlimited is the industry’s first-of-its-kind subscription for college textbooks and course materials. A subscription includes access to more than 22,000 products, including eBooks, online homework access codes and study guides. Students pay one price for Cengage Unlimited—no matter how many materials they use. Cengage Unlimited significantly reduces the cost of course materials and, with more than 1 million subscriptions sold, students have already saved $60 million this academic year.

“We recognize that the cost of course materials is a barrier for many students. Together with leaders at Union County College, we aim to address affordability while providing greater access to quality learning,” said Edwin Robles, Senior Vice President, Higher Ed & Skills Sales at Cengage. “Union County College’s leading example illustrates its commitment to student success, and we applaud the work they are doing to improve the learning experience.”

In a recent episode of Inside the College, Union County College President Dr. McMenamin spoke with Dr. Bernard Polnariev, Dean of Curriculum, Accreditation and American Honors about new student success initiatives at the institution. Dr. Polnariev considers the Cengage Unlimited program a “game-changer for our students,” providing a more affordable way for students to access materials. He noted that faculty will also benefit by students being more prepared because they will all have all of their materials for the start of class.

In addition to Union County College, Warren County Community College in New Jersey also offers Cengage Unlimited to all students to help increase affordable access to quality learning.
