Cengage Group Named a Best-in-Class Employer by Gallagher

Gallagher’s Best-in-Class Benchmarking Analysis Identified Cengage Group as an Organization That Excels in Optimizing Employee and Organizational Wellbeing

Boston, MA, March 14, 2022 — Cengage Group, a global education technology company with more than 4,200 employees, was recognized by Gallagher as a Best-in-in Class Employer as part of the global insurance brokerage’s 2021 Benefits Strategy & Benchmarking Survey. Cengage Group was recognized as a company that provides innovative solutions for creating organizational structures, workplace policies and total rewards, which inclusively engages and motivates its employees.

"We are honored that Gallagher has named Cengage Group as a Best-in-Class employer,” said Jeri Herman, Senior Vice President of Human Resources at Cengage Group. “Employee health and wellbeing is a top priority for us as an organization. We know that ensuring employees feel supported and recognized enables them to do their best work, and ultimately drives our company success.”

Cengage Group stood out in several best-in-class categories including prioritizing employee health and wellbeing, providing time-off and leave policies that ease the strain of work-life demands, addressing the unique needs of a diverse workforce through a variety of benefit and HR program offerings and enhancing financial well-being by providing effective support tools.

Furthermore, the pandemic presented Cengage Group with an opportunity to re-introduce offerings that already existed as well as create new offerings to support employees through some of the new challenges and circumstances that arose out of the pandemic, including:

  • a monthly series called Wellness Wednesday that focuses on self-care education
  • a wellness Slack channel that provides employees with a supportive space to discuss wellness topics and access wellness tools and resources
  • an expanded Employee Assistance Program (EAP) to include “chat therapy”, a quick and easy way to access mental health counseling services
  • a telehealth program that now also includes behavioral health counseling services
  • paid time for vaccination and COVID-related illness and the addition of several “wellness days” that were on top of vacation, holidays, floating holidays and sick time already offered

In addition to this recognition from Gallagher, earlier this year, Cengage Group received a score of 100 on the Human Rights Campaign Foundation’s 2022 Corporate Equality Index, earning the company a Best Place to Work for LGBTQ+ Equality designation for the second year in a row. Cengage Group also achieved Platinum status for Mental Health America’s Bell Seal Assessment, a distinction awarded to companies that meet mentally healthy workplace standards.

“Cengage Group takes a proactive and structured approach to planning, developing and implementing comprehensive benefits and HR programs, which is essential in today’s war for talent,” said William F. Ziebell, CEO of Gallagher's Benefits & HR Consulting Division “In doing so, Cengage Group is able to set its employee value proposition apart from the competition, which allows them to better attract, reward and retain their talent.”
