Cengage Group Named a Best-in-Class Employer by Gallagher

Gallagher’s Best-in-Class Benchmarking Analysis Identified Cengage Group as an Organization That Excels in Optimizing Employee and Organizational Wellbeing for the Second Year in a Row.

Boston, MA, February 15, 2023 — Cengage Group, a global edtech company, has been recognized by Gallagher as a Best-in-in Class Employer for the second consecutive year, as part of the global insurance brokerage’s 2022 Benefits Strategy & Benchmarking Survey. Cengage Group was recognized as a company that strategically invests in benefits, compensation and employee communication to support the health, financial security and career growth of its employees at a sustainable cost structure.

"We are honored that Gallagher has once again named Cengage Group as a Best-in-Class employer,” said Jeri Herman, Senior Vice President of Human Resources at Cengage Group. “It is critically important that companies recognize and support all aspects of employee health and wellbeing. I am proud of the work that we have done over the past year and continue to do to foster a positive employee experience that enables employees to do their best work.”

Cengage Group stood out in several best-in-class categories including:

  • Wellbeing Strategy: Cengage Group recognizes the importance of supporting employee health and wellbeing, and in 2021 added several paid wellness days, including a full week off at the end of the year. Furthermore, new parents have the opportunity to take advantage of a 12-week paid parental leave following the birth, adoption or placement of a child in the home.
  • Completion of a Workforce Engagement Survey: 88% of employees completed Cengage Group’s annual engagement survey, helping to gather feedback and inform the direction of its programs.
  • Benefits Strategy: Cengage Group offers a variety of programs including tuition and GED reimbursement, certification reimbursement and a scholarship program for dependents of employees.

In addition to this recognition from Gallagher, earlier this year, Cengage Group was named a Best Place to Work by the Glassdoor Employees’ Choice Awards. The company is listed as one of the top 100 large U.S. companies with an overall 4.4 out of 5 rating. Cengage Group is one of only three education companies that was recognized as a Best Place to Work in 2023. The company was also previously recognized by Glassdoor as a Best Place to Work in 2019.

“Cengage Group was recognized as a U.S. Best-in-Class Employer because of how they approach organizational priorities with a long-term outlook; provide high-quality, high-value benefits; and build and solidify a strong organizational culture through their communications,” said William F. Ziebell, CEO of Gallagher's Benefits & HR Consulting Division “In doing so, Cengage Group invests in the whole employee by providing distinct and relevant wellbeing resources that will attract and retain talent.”
