Cengage Group’s Suite of AI Tools
Cengage Student Assistant
At the start of the 24-25 school year, we launched our GenAI-powered Student Assistant. As part of the MindTap online learning platform, the Student Assistant provides tailored feedback and resources throughout the learning process to guide students, help them connect with key concepts and improve overall student learning. It supports concept mastery without providing direct answers, reinforcing academic integrity and deepening comprehension.
These learnings are built on the foundation of years of Cengage’s mixed-method research studies to better understand classroom challenges, leading to the creation of our GenAI models that tailor the Student Assistant to specific disciplines within the Cengage portfolio. Initially launched in beta and tested by thousands of students across the country, the Student Assistant has been expanded to over one million students for the Fall 2025.
Faculty Focused Support
Part of our focus on AI in education is to ensure we take a holistic approach to developing AI tools. As such, Cengage Group launched multiple GenAI tools aimed at assisting faculty with actionable insights and tailored learning.
The AI Leveler, developed by Gale, allows K–12 educators to discreetly adjust reading levels of trusted content to meet individual student needs. This includes customizable text levels, editable results and auto-generated citations, allowing educators to improve student reading comprehension and engagement while maintaining content quality and source transparency.
Our Faculty Insight Dashboard equips instructors with real-time, AI-powered insights into student engagement and learning patterns. By analyzing anonymized interactions from Student Assistant, it enables faculty to identify learning gaps early, personalize instruction and create targeted improvement plans.
AI Workforce Tools
At Cengage Group, one of our core pillars is to help people get jobs. This not only includes students throughout higher education, but also those already in the workforce looking to develop career-ready skills or embrace upskilling opportunities.
Infosec’s Skills Navigator, part of our cybersecurity education portfolio, uses GenAI to instantly generate customized training plans based on job descriptions or skill needs. This tool helps learners and organizations close skills gaps efficiently, aligning training with real-world cybersecurity demands.
