How Internships Shape Career Paths: Insights from Sona Bardakjian

Internships continue to play a vital role in preparing students for the workforce. According to our 2024 Employability Report, 69% of education institutions are now offering internships, cooperative education and other work-based learning opportunities, an encouraging sign that more students are gaining the practical experience they need to succeed after graduation. These opportunities are critical in helping learners build confidence, explore career paths and apply their skills in real-world settings.

In recognition of National Intern Day, we’re proud to spotlight Sona Bardakjian, who joined Cengage Group this summer as our Corporate Communications Intern. A recent graduate of Boston College with a degree in Communication and Journalism, Sona is passionate about digital media, content strategy and editorial writing. This internship marks her continued journey in the EdTech space, where she’s expanding her communications expertise and gaining a clearer vision of her future career path.
